Welcome to Sahr's Dance Marathon Giving Blue Day Page!
Welcome to my Dance Marathon fundraising page! I'm Sahr, and this is my fourth (and final!) year in this incredible organization - I could not be more excited for this DMUM year! Pumpkin Carving, FTK Formal, VictorThon, and of course, all of the shining smiles on the kids' faces :)
I am a firm believer that every child should be provided an incredible childhood - a place to encourage their imagination, explore their dreams, and most importantly, a place to discover hope for their future, even on the toughest of days. For me, I was lucky enough to have to find hope on the days following a lost soccer game or a broken toy. For these brave kids I stand for each and every day, they have to conquer much, much more.
I am a member of DMUM to help these kids find their hope - to remind them that a disability is NOT an inability. To show them that no matter what stands in their way, a college student is out there, cheering them on, and will shower them with unconditional smiles, hugs, and love. To be there for them at DMUM therapies, handing them a bowling ball so they can try and beat their highest score, to climb the tree alongside them and cheer them on to the highest branch, and to dance to their favorite songs with them dressed in our Halloween costumes. To show them that there are thousands of people who are ready to support, encourage, and STAND for them and their futures.
I am so proud to be a part of this incredible organization, and I could not be more excited to be one of the co-chairs for the 2017-2018 Dancer Relations Committee! As a member of the Dancer Relations Team, I will work alongside a team of AWESOME coordinators to provide volunteering, bonding, and fundraising resources for hundreds of Dancers. Although I will undoubtedly miss my role on the Family Relations Committee, I'm excited to incorporate all that I've learned about families truly being the heart of this organization in motivating our Dancers to go above and beyond in standing for these kids. I'm excited to provide all of our Dancers with the same moments I had - cheering on Zachariah on stage while he made Michael Jackson (and all of us!) so proud, watching Larry Jr.'s awesome team surprise him with a custom Monopoly set for Christmas, and helping baby Micah pop as many bubbles as he could at the Marathon. These kids have given me so much joy, inspiration, and motivation, and have consistently proven to me how important it is to have a zest for life, and I cannot wait to spend this DMUM year getting our Dancers acquainted with these wonderful DMUM families and the DMUM community!
Also, I would LOVE it if you came and visited me at the 24 Hour Marathon in March - I will be standing (and dancing!) for 24 hours along with hundreds of other college students to show our support for these lovely kids! Come to see the magic of this organization and dance a bit with me :) DMUM Love and Forever Stand for the Kids!
